The 110-meter superyacht Icecap, built by Lürssen, has been spotted in Germany preparing for sea trials. Previously known as Project Shackleton and now bearing the prominent name O3, the yacht was launched in 2025.
The project was originally announced in 2017 and has since undergone significant modifications compared to the initial concept, following a resale during construction in 2022, when the team from Occam Marine took over supervision of the ongoing build.
It was first sighted in 2019. The exterior design and naval architecture were originally developed by Salt Ship Design, but after the 2022 takeover, Espen Øino significantly redesigned the yacht. The interior is handled by the Paris-based studio CG Design, while the original interior concept was created by Adam Lay. Construction began at Lürssen’s Peene-Werft shipyard in Wolgast, Germany, and in 2022 the yacht was transferred to Lürssen’s facility in Hamburg for outfitting, where it was completed in a floating dry dock.
Details about O3’s interior layout remain strictly confidential, but the yacht is estimated to feature an internal volume exceeding 6,300 gross tons. Initial photographs reveal a distinctive reverse-raked bow, while shades of grey and white further emphasize its utilitarian character.
